This pandemic has made me miss large groups of people, so today I’m celebrating a rad couple and their great big awesome Hindu wedding day!
Becky and Akhil’s wedding was glam down to the very last detail. We explored downtown Calgary for some photos, even going for a ride on the good ol’ C Train before we headed to their Hindu wedding ceremony and reception. One of my fave traditions at Hindu and Sikh weddings is the baraat – it’s the celebration where the groom arrives at the temple, often on horseback, surrounded by his singing and partying family and friends. Akhil’s horse was the sunroof of an SUV – next best thing! The brides family meets the groom’s family outside of the temple and they exchange garlands of flowers.
And the rest of the day was spectacular too – Becky and Akhil’s wedding was one of the most emotional and touching weddings I’ve experienced – lots of tears, surprise dance performances and incredible speeches straight from the heart, followed by a killer party that brought every single guest to the dance floor. These two are such kind and lovely souls, and I wish them all the best!
